It all started with Mark William Lund…a little boy born with Down’s Syndrome and severe cardiac complications.  Five days after his birth, the founders of Marklund, Claire and Stan Haverkampf, began providing foster care for Mark.  After a four day fight with pneumonia, Mark William Lund died at 6 years, 9 months on September 20, 1961.  The loving care that he received during his time with the Haverkampfs began the legacy that is now known as Marklund.
