VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

When Claire and Stan Haverkampf first opened their hearts and home
to an infant with severe cardiac complications and Down Syndrome,
they had no idea of what was to follow. The year was 1954. The
child's name was Mark William Lund. Today, Marklund is a network of
modern residential and educational facilities across DuPage County,
Illinois, committed to providing quality care for individuals who
have developmental disabilities. Marklund's mission is to provide a
full life experience for infants, children and adults with
developmental disabilities through 24-hour nursing care, and a full
range of therapeutic and educational programs.
Not only is the staff at Marklund essential to the quality care of
the infants, children and adults served, but volunteers are vital to
our success as well. Our day-to-day activities as well as our special
events need the support of dedicated volunteers who are able to give
of their time and talents. Volunteer opportunities include: community
outing assistants; activity assistants; Resale shop assistants;
special events; and support services. All of our
volunteers can find a place for themselves, no matter what their
interests, where they live or how much time they can donate.
